Fraud Blocker Book Review: The Willpower Instinct

I thought this book was of the positive, self-help variety, but no. It helped me make concrete sense of how I may intervene on my willpower and procrastination, which are issues common with a number of my coaching clients… and I as well!

This book is comprehensive without covering the cliché (read: ineffective) techniques that are out there. It’s scientific, without being dense. Lots of anecdotes (maybe one too many) from the author’s own experience and accounts by scientists to illustrate what’s presented.

A surprise for me was how significantly some of the interventions were linked to meditation, awareness and the ability to be present. I am motivated to double down on my mindfulness practices.
